Intuition School Visits the National Memorial Arboretum

Our students recently enjoyed a memorable educational visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, giving them the opportunity to learn outside the classroom, explore an important national site and spend time together in a calm and inspiring environment.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Intuition School, we believe that some of the most valuable learning experiences take place beyond the traditional classroom.

The visit gave our students the opportunity to explore the Arboretum at their own pace, discover the stories behind its memorials and develop their understanding of remembrance, history, community and the sacrifices made by people from many different backgrounds.

Students were able to ask questions, take part in discussions and connect what they were seeing with topics explored through their wider curriculum.

A Chance to Explore and Reflect

The National Memorial Arboretum provided a peaceful environment where students could explore the grounds, enjoy being outdoors and take time to reflect.

Throughout the visit, students demonstrated curiosity, respect and maturity while visiting the different memorials and learning about the people and organisations they represent.

For some students, visits such as this also provide valuable opportunities to practise important life skills, including:

• travelling safely as part of a group;

• communicating with staff and peers;

• managing new and unfamiliar environments;

• following instructions and agreed boundaries;

• developing confidence and independence; and

• showing respect for other visitors and public spaces.
