British Values and Prevent.

We have a  policy in place at In-Tuition that outlines our approach to encorporating British Values within our curriculum.

We also have calendar dates throughout the academic year, ensuring that we observe our national festivals and other memoriams and celebrations.

Please see our centre policy and calendar dates for further information.

As a school and alternative provision we work with several services to quality assure our practice. These assessments are internal, external, commissioned and standadised. We store reprts and results in this area for our parents and students to view.

British Values Statement

Our Values Statement

At Intuition we promote ‘British Values’ through our spiritual, moral, social

and cultural education which permeates through the school’s curriculum

and supports the development of the ‘whole child’. We recognise that such

development is most successful when those values and attitudes are

promoted by all the staff and provide a model of behaviour for our pupils.

The curriculum in all phases offers broad and balanced opportunities.

Intuition is committed to providing a secure environment for pupils, where they feel safe and are kept safe. All adults at Intuition recognise that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, irrespective of the role they undertake and whether or not their role has direct contact or responsibility for children and young people.

Our school is a safe place where pupils can explore controversial issues safely and where our teachers encourage and facilitate this – we have a duty to ensure this happens. However, there is no place for extremist views of any kind in our school, whether from internal sources - pupils, staff or governors; or external sources - school community, external agencies or individuals.

As a school we recognise that extremism and exposure to extremist materials and influences can lead to poor outcomes for children and so should be addressed as a safeguarding concern as set out in this policy. We also recognise that if we fail to challenge extremist views, we are failing to protect our pupils.

Extremists of all persuasions aim to develop destructive relationships between different communities by promoting division, fear and mistrust of others based on ignorance or prejudice and thereby limiting the life chances of young people. Education is a powerful weapon against this; equipping young people with the knowledge, skills and critical thinking, to challenge and debate in an informed way.

Therefore, we will provide a broad and balanced curriculum, delivered by skilled professionals, so that our pupils are enriched, understand and accept difference and diversity and also to ensure that they thrive, feel valued and not marginalised.
